Mr. Rick Robb is the proud principal of Patuxent Valley Middle School. He spent thirteen years in information technology working at companies like Ernst and Young, Proctor and Gamble, and numerous state and county governments. Soon after, he began working with youth in the juvenile and rehabilitation centers in Ohio and Maryland. Upon receiving his English / Education degree, he started his teaching career in Prince George's County at Kettering Middle School, Duval High School, and Eleanor Roosevelt High School. In 2000, Mr. Robb transferred to the Howard County School System where he taught English at River Hill High School for eleven years. During that time, he acquired his Masters in School Counseling, was principal of Howard County's Evening School for seven years and Howard County's Comprehensive Summer School program for ten years. He was assistant principal at Long Reach High School and Marriotts Ridge High School and the Administrator for the Applications and Research Laboratory. He has written articles and presented at local, state and national workshops on technology in education. He enjoys spending time with his wife, twin boys, and younger daughter, and recently shooting Olympic-style Recurve archery competitively.

Q. Smith-Green

Q. Smith-Green is the new Administrative Intern for Patuxent Valley Middle School, and he is very excited to join the PVMS family. He has been working in the Howard County Public School System for 20 years. Q. was born and raised in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and earned his Bachelor of Science in Education from Temple University. He started his career in Howard County Public Schools at Swansfield Elementary and taught most grades K-5. In 2007, he transitioned to Mayfield Woods Middle School, where he took every opportunity to provide students a supportive environment where they could be inspired and engaged, while achieving academic success. He received his Masters of Education in School Administration and Supervision from Johns Hopkins University. Last year, he worked as a Leadership Intern at Oakland Mills Middle School. He hopes to bring his experience and skills to Patuxent Valley Middle School. Q. is looking forward to getting to know everyone and becoming part of the Patuxent Valley Middle School family.
