Good afternoon,
HCPSS announced a 2-hour delay schedule for both Monday (2/2) and Tuesday (2/3). This will allow staff to address overnight refreezing on sidewalks/pathways and parking lots and for students navigating those areas and neighborhood bus stops to do so with adequate sunlight. The delay also allows more time to get to school safely. Please use the extra time and leave earlier to assist with navigating roads, parking lots, and sidewalks.
Please take time to look at the paths, bus stops and walkways your child will need to use when they return to school and review with your child any adjustments they will need to make to their route as we expect this snow and ice to be present for a little while.
A heartfelt thank you to our custodial team and grounds crew for their efforts over the last week. While our school is ready to open tomorrow, there will be some challenges that require patience and extra time.
Please note:
- Doors will open at 9:35am tomorrow morning and students should not be dropped off until this time.
- The PVMS and BBES parking lots have been cleared and all paths on school property, but not the grassy areas. Students should not walk in snowy and icy areas as they are not safe for walking.
- In particular students who have period 1 in the portables should enter through the grade level doors or walk on the path from the bus loop to get to their classroom.
- We do NOT expect any changes to our drop-off/pick-up procedures for cars or buses. The car loop and bus loop are clear; follow the flow of traffic and the direction of any staff outside.
- The blacktop has not yet been cleared. Students should prepare for indoor recess for at least this week.
Quarter 3 begins on Monday, February 2. Help your student prepare for this new quarter by reviewing their schedule with them. All students have at least one class that changes each quarter. Schedules are available in both parent and student accounts in Synergy and on your student's home page in Canvas.
