Q&A for Back to School Night 2025-2026
What are the changes for this year’s BTSN and why has it changed in structure?
This year we have organized our evening into 6 sessions, staff are organized into rooms based on the course they teach, and parents are able to pick the order that they attend sessions.
We made these changes so that:
- Parents will have more time with staff members to hear about the learning students will be doing this year (10 minutes per session rather than 7).
- We could build in more movement time and take the stress out of having to find each room in sequence. In this schedule there is 5 minutes of movement time for each session, and you can select the order that you visit courses and teachers.
- We could build in the welcome fair with clubs, activities, and community resources, without making the event longer.
Will I get to see all of my children’s teachers at Back to School Night?
Yes, teachers will be in sessions for the courses that they teach, and will be sharing about the experience your student will have in their classroom. If a teacher has a split schedule the staff in that room will be able to tell you where that teacher is for the evening. Any teacher who is not present for the evening is listed on the agenda and they will be posting a message on Canvas to introduce themselves.
Will I be able to walk my child’s schedule during the evening?
Yes, if you bring your child’s schedule you will be able to walk the route that they take during the school day. While there are 6 sessions and not all teachers will be in their rooms, all hallways will be accessible and there is plenty of movement time built into the evening.
What if I get to a room and there are no seats?
Classrooms are close to each other and we ask that parents go to a nearby session and come back to the session that is full. Each course is offering sessions during 5 out of the 6 sessions.
